Dr. Aiste Zebrauskaite and dr. Robertas Pranevičius at The Hospital of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Kauno klinikos , successfully performed a challenging procedure on a patient with severe coronary artery disease by using Shockwave Medical device.
The patient had a calcified coronary artery trunk and a previously inserted stent that had bent. The stent was expanded with a balloon, and two new stents were placed. The patient was suffering from significant ischemia and had only two functioning blood vessels left, one of which was barely viable.
